What kind of CAMS should I get to wake up my 2004 Road King Custom?
I have a 2004 Harley Road King Custom ….. It has a 88, but I changed the air purifier to Step 1 already and I will now be on Thunder Header 2 into 1 Exhaust … But I want to put some cams in the engine also .. .. Since I am Dyno'd to do anyway when I put the Thunder Headers on .. I would put some CAMS when I put the pipes .. and do everything at once .. I want more Tourqui for takeoff … so I can wake up the bike .. Thank you for the help.
A VERY strong recommendation, since you cam, are the new Screamin Eagle Cam Plate / Chain / hydaulic tensioner / oil pump kit installed also. The pre-tensioners 07 Spring loaded are known to fail, the channels are currently the cause of premature wear on stretchers. Once the tensioners wear out, particles to destroy the oil pump and cam. The new hydraulic tensioners and chains are not as bad as the first. The new oil pump will also deliver much more pressure and recovery of the lower end toward the pit and help the engine run cooler. Andrews makes cams Very good. The TW37B Andrews Grind with Screamin Eagle Perfect Fit Stock Length PUSHRODS will really wake up your engine. I also strongly recommend a set of Screamin Eagle lifters be installed. You want the Screamin Eagle SUPER TUNER !!!!……. and have Dyno TUNED ….. sttle not just to have the base map loaded. The difference between being tuned and a base map is like night and day. The base maps are just that … a basis on which to work form. Each engine is like individaul that we as human beings, they each require a little fine tuning to make them work optimally. The tuner will also Super adjustment easier for any future upgrade you may do so.
