Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) collect mold, fungi, bacteria and a variety of contaminants that reduce the quality Air residents and visitors breathe. A dirty air duct contributes to poor air quality inside and affects people's health in the residence.
Collection vacuum alone does not clean the HVAC system. Brushes, air whips, "skipper balls" and other tools that stir contaminants and debris scrub surfaces within the duct system and air contaminants and debris propelled into the device vacuum collection (s).
Anti-microbial chemical disinfectants are applied to the inner surface of air ducts to control contamination microbial … but … before disinfectants are used, the system should be thoroughly cleaned. All anti-microbial chemicals used are be EPA registered for use in HVAC systems. Ask to see the chemical's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). If you're still interested, call the EPA at 1-800-438-4318. There are no EPA registered anti-microbial products for use on porous system surfaces - such as fiberglass surfaces.
When disinfecting air ducts you want to make sure the cleaning company of air ducts uses safe, effective EPA approved products that are safe for people, pets and the environment. A mist spray the disinfectant through the complete ventilation system.

Consumers should also beware of "Blow-and-go" business cleaning air ducts that impose costs down and make a bad work cleaning the heating and cooling system. These companies are also trying to convince consumers of unnecessary services or provide services without permission of the consumer. Contact officials of the Better Business Bureau and local, federal and state elected to report the company.
Interview at least 3 HVAC air duct cleaning and local contractors and conduct a free inspection system and provide a price to clean the system HVAC.
Refine your list of potential contractors:
* Make sure the company is a member in good standing of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA).
* Check that the company is certified by NADCA to perform HVAC system cleaning.
* Ask how long the company in business and determine if this experience is sufficient.
* Ask if the company has the right equipment for the efficient cleaning, and the company has done work in homes similar to yours. Ask for references from neighbors.
* Ask if the company is in good standing with the local Better Business Bureau.
* Get proof that the company is properly licensed and adequately insured.
* Ensure that the company will clean and visually inspect all air ducts and related system components.
* Avoid advertisements for "house specialties, all 99" and other gadgets for sale.
NADCA Members sign a Code of Ethics stating they will do effort to protect the consumer and follow NADCA standards for cleaning air ducts. Companies cleaning air ducts must meet strict requirements. All members must have certified Air System Cleaning Specialists (ASCS) on staff who took and passed the NADCA Certification Examination. Success examination demonstrates a thorough knowledge of HVAC design and cleaning methodologies. Specialists Air System Cleaning is also necessary to continue their education by attending industry seminars to maintain their NADCA certification status current.
